The other day "Your Hand in Mine" came on one of my Pandora stations. The song by Explosions in the Sky is one of my favorites. It has no words but carries a lot of emotion considering they used it in the soundtrack to the Friday Night Lights film.
Friday Night Lights is one of my absolute favorite movies (see my other favorites here). The story line is so real and for some reason, sports movies always stand out in my mind.
I bring this up because I was less than thrilled with the SuperBowl outcome this year. For a moment, I was actually feeling bitter towards the Ravens, but then, I reminded myself that it is only football and there is always next year... and then my mom actually had to remind me to act like a lady. Oops!
Football holds a special place in my heart because I cheered all throughout middle school and high school (read more about that, here). I loved being under the lights and cheering my friends to victory. There was something special between the football players and the cheerleaders because we had an emotional investment in the game....either that or it was because we dated them.. ha! I think that's why I really love Friday Night Lights and other sports related movies. I don't really cry during movies.... ever. I will say that the only movies I've ever cried in are Friday Night Lights and when Will Smith has to kill his dog in I Am Legend (I don't know how you couldn't cry in that scene!!!).
I thought I'd share the Friday Night Lights clip that makes me sob like a baby... considering that's what I felt like doing when the Ravens won. But you know what, there is nothing good about a sore loser, so here's to next year! I can't wait for another football season.
Is there a certain movie that moves you? Do you get emotional when you watch this Friday Night Lights scene? What did you think of the SuperBowl outcome? And Ravens readers, I'm not happy for the win, but I'm happy that the win makes you happy :). Have a fabulous day!
